Mining Bitcoin with pencil and paper

07:52
Bitcoins are mined using a cryptographic algorithm called SHA-256. This algorithm is simple enough to be done with pencil and paper, as I show in this video. Not surprisingly, this is a thoroughly impractical way to mine. One round of the algorithm takes 16 minutes, 45 seconds which works out to a hash rate of 0.67 hashes per day. For details, see http://righto.com/sha

Proof of Stupidity | Revolutionary Consensus Algorithm

03:51
Proof of Stupidity NATURALLY occurs in NATURE so you don't even need to write any code for it to occur. It is by far the best way to reach decentralized consensus. In this video, we discuss three examples that illustrate Proof of Stupidity's superiority over other alternatives: 1. "Long Island Iced Tea Corp" rebranding themselves as "Long Blockchain Corp" 2. Hooter's starting a cryptocurrency rewards program 3. Kodak launching Kodakcoin Perhaps in the future we'll talk about more examples of proof of stupidity given how NATURALLY it occurs in NATURE. Why don't more people talk about this revolutionary consensus algorithm? Steemit Post: https://steemit.com/blockchain/@cryptovestor/proof-of-stupidity-or-revolutionary-consensus-algorithm ================ If you like my content, you can support me through using ANY of the affiliate links below (I receive small compensation). The beauty of affiliate links is that I can pick and choose what I like rather than have companies approach me - everything I linked below (with the exception of Trezor since I like Ledger), I use myself frequently. ================ My Recommended Hardware Wallets: If you want to store your cryptocurrencies safely, the best way is through a hardware wallet. Seriously - look it up and you'll find plenty of information supporting this claim. There are alternatives such as paper wallets, but these are convenient and my choice for cold storage (offline): Ledger Nano S: http://amzn.to/2hZPj0q Trezor: http://amzn.to/2AxD9TN Ledger Blue (expensive): http://amzn.to/2hk7xst I personally prefer the Ledger Nano S, but the Trezor is such a close second that it really doesn't matter which one you go with. Ledger Blue is premium and convenient, but not necessary. ================ My Favorite Book for Investing in Crypto: Cryptoassets: http://amzn.to/2zKDdCF This book is, bar none, my favorite book for investing in cryptocurrencies. It doesn't bog you down with technical jargon, but instead focuses on all the elements you should understand before you invest. It's a comprehensive book for both beginners and experts. Beginners will find information about major cryptocurrencies (not just Bitcoin) as well as details on historical market events (that you can draw on for future) and events to watch for moving into the future. Experts will find the chapters on valuation particularly useful. For those of you involved in traditional investing, this book is even more of a godsend as finance info is explored (correlations with other asset classes, ETFs, etc). ================ My Recommended Exchanges: Coinbase / GDAX / Bittrex https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a08b12e305a1401d79d10e0 If you sign up to Coinbase using link above, you and I will both receive $10 each after you buy your first $100 of Bitcoin using Coinbase. Coinbase is much less intimidating for beginners. Once ready, move up to GDAX for cheaper or zero fees. For altcoins, I recommend Bittrex. ================ Legal Stuff: I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. None of what I provide in my videos is investment advice. Please do your own due diligence. ================ My Platforms: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Truth_Investor SteemIt: https://steemit.com/@cryptovestor Medium: https://medium.com/@Truth_Investor Seeking Alpha: https://seekingalpha.com/author/truth-investor/articles

How secure is 256 bit security?

05:06
Supplement to the cryptocurrency video: How hard is it to find a 256-bit hash just by guessing and checking? What kind of computer would that take? Cryptocurrency video: https://youtu.be/bBC-nXj3Ng4 Thread for Q&A questions: http://3b1b.co/questions Several people have commented about how 2^256 would be the maximum number of attempts, not the average. This depends on the thing being attempted. If it's guessing a private key, you are correct, but for something like guessing which input to a hash function gives a desired output (as in bitcoin mining, for example), which is the kind of thing I had in mind here, 2^256 would indeed be the average number of attempts needed, at least for a true cryptographic hash function. Think of rolling a die until you get a 6, how many rolls do you meed to make, on average? ------------------ 3blue1brown is a channel about animating math, in all senses of the word animate. How Does Monero Work?

23:05
Only a few days left to signup for my Decentralized Applications course! https://www.theschool.ai Monero is a cryptocurrency that enables private transactions. That means the sender, receiver, and transaction amount are not publicly viewable, unlike Bitcoin's blockchain. Monero's transactions stay private using the technology of ring signatures, ringCT, stealth addresses, and I2P routing. I'll explain how all of this works in this video. I do not condone the use of this technology for illegal transactions. This is powerful stuff, ideally, we start using this as a stepping stone towards a world where we get paid for our transactional data (and all the rest of our data). Algorithm: X16R RAVEN PROJECT (ONLY NVIDIA) YIIMP.EU : http://yiimp.eu/ GPU MINING !!! How to Mine? 1 DOWNLOAD WALLET AND CCMINER FILES 2 SET UP A BAT FILE 3 LET IT GO!!! What is RavenCoin? Ravencoin (RVN) is the brainchild of Bruce Fenton, organizer of the Satoshi Roundtable, board member of Medici Ventures and the Bitcoin Foundation. Ravencoin was first announced in October of 2017 at MIT. In the months leading to the official launch on January 3rd 2018, Ravencoin gained support at several conferences and colleges. Self-described as "...a use case specific blockchain designed to carry statements of truth about who owns what asset" Ravencoin's naming pays homage to the ravens of the fictional world of Westeros. In the two months after its launch, Ravencoin has seen an exponential groundswell of community support, including the support of the larger mining community. Ravencoin is the first coin to leverage the ASIC resistant x16r algorithm and is a completely Proof of Work(PoW) coin. No ICO was undertaken, and neither was a pre-mine utilized. Ravencoin has attracted many individuals to the community and project due to its fair and grassroots hallmarks of the original Bitcoin launch. Ravencoin differs however from Bitcoin with an increased block size, and a faster block time, features which developers have alluded to setting the groundwork for Ethereum style asset transfers and tokens. ------------LINKS -------------------------------------------------------------------- OFFICAL AND WALLET : https://ravencoin.org/ CCMINER : https://github.com/MSFTserver/ccminer/releases/tag/2.2.5-rvn ------------DONATIONS ARE WELCOME --------------------------------- Bitcoin : 156Q44u49QJVrC3ASGQDzFZwi5pRs9M13w Ethereum: 0x99b28e33c8deb41e6db324df40742096658259f9 Verge: DFMBFn2ntUXsygFjQ2yAkphYdP8fPAgoZd --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SONG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DPq3olY6oQ

How to turn $56.23 into $1million dollars with cryptocurrency 2018

21:47
Probably the best most beneficial video I have put out to date! Come join the community at: http://moocharoo.ninja/bmm.html Some say they have missed out on the chance to become a millionaire 5-10 years ago by not buying Bitcoin while it was cheap. That i simply NOT TRUE! The truth is buying and storing bitcoin or other crypto currecies back then was difficult, there was no coinbase or binance around in those days, without the right technical know how you would have been dead in the water anyway. Today the cryptocurrency landscape is completely different. An investment in bitcoin 10 years ago would have been a massive risk. It was a completely unknown technology. Now blockchain has become a household name. I barely know of any family that does not have someone in their household that is invested into some kind of cryptocurrency. Mainstream adoption is just around the corner, new tokens and platforms are coming out daily to support the crypto industry and by getting in early on the right technologies you stand to make an absolutely fortune! But which one's to buy into? This is the reason I have developed the NEW algorithm at http://moocharoo.ninja to find those new undervalued coins before their price gets out of reach. By investing in our monthly 12 cryptos you become highly likely to net yourself HUGE gains over the following 2-3 years. Of course there are no guarantees when it comes to investing, you must do your own research yada yada yada... But, the world climate is now geared towards adopting blockchain technologies, crypto is no longer a place for only wild eyed anarchists yelling "down with the banks!". What Cryptos Should You Mine? Zcash, Bitcoin Gold, Vertcoin...What?!

07:45
What is the best cryptocurrency to mine? Should you be mining Zcash, Bitcoin Gold, Vercoin? I will use our NVIDIA 1080 Ti GPU crypto miner on this video to show you how we do it! Our mining hardware actually includes three of the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti video cards, which gives us a good hashrate and low temperatures when overclocked. Even though it cannot be used to mine Bitcoin, it is perfect for alcoin mining [and might be appropriate to mine Bitcoin Gold (BTG) soon]. We start off by going to the What to Mine website and specifying our hardware (three 1080 Ti's) and power consumption (in kWh) to determine our hashrates based on different mining algorithms and coins. For a while, we were mining Zcash (ZEC) because it was the most profitable crypto to mine for the Nvidia cards. But on the day of this example, we used the Lyra 2 Revision 2 algorithm (Lyra2REv2) to mine Monacoin (MONA). On the What to Mine tab mining profitability table, we see Monacoin as the top earner ($7.40 assuming a Kilowatt-Hour figure of $0.10, as of October 25th, the day this video was recorded), then Vertcoin (VTC), both coins being on the Lyra2 Revision 2 algorithm. After that, there's Zencash (ZEN) and Zcash, which are both on the Equihash algorithm. The Equihash algorithm also includes Zclassic (ZCL), Hush (HUSH), and Komodo (KMD). Monacoin is a big player in Japan, which legalized cyptocurrencies in brick-and-mortar stores, and provided access to Bitcoin ATMs, where you can withdraw fiat (paper currency) for your cryptos. What to do with your Mined Altcoins? This is a great question that will affect your overall mining profitability. Do you like to mine a more fundamentally solid cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Zcash, etc.) on the list and hold on to it (HODL it, as they say in the crypto world) OR do you try to maximize your current profitability by mining whatever is on top of the leaderboard, then convert or exchange it for a crypto that you actually want to hold? Personally, I'm still holding on to all the Zcash that I have mined in the last few months. On this video, I'm going with Monacoin. Can I Mine Bitcoin Gold with a GPU Miner? On October 23rd, Bitcoin hard fork split occurred, causing the creation of Bitcoin Gold. What's interesting about this is that, even though Bitcoin mining has always been an ASIC-centric affair, Bitcoin Gold is supposed to allow mining via the Equihash algorithm via GPUs, our favorite type of miner. That means that you would be able use our 1080 Ti GPU mining rig to mine Bitcoin Gold, which is really exciting. Stay tuned for that! So what cryptos do you mine and what do you do with your digital coins after you mine them? Digibyte Price & Technical Analysis - Cryptocurrency trading with Digibyte

07:20
What is digibyte? I first became aware of digibyte after mining some coins through nicehash and miningpoolhub. At first I didn't do much research and immediately traded my mined coins back into bitcoin using the bittrex exchange platform. After a few successfully finishing a few mining contracts I wanted to know more. What makes Digibyte coin different from other crypto currencies? That's a great question. I'm not 100% sure, they have a 5 algorithm mining protocol which makes their network very secure, transaction times are fast (although NEM, Dash and IOTA are equally quick) and the lead developer has been involved with blockchain technologies since the beginning and is well respected in the industry. Digibyte price predictions for 2017. People buying digibyte are speculating that sometime in the near future a company or marketplace will need a solid blockchain technology with a proven track record and no want to go through the hassle of developing there own. The example a lot of people use is the digibyte minecraft example and while that shows this technology can be used as an in game currency it doesn't prove that digibyte has an advantage that the competition doesn't

Blockchain tutorial 11: Elliptic Curve key pair generation

18:58
This is part 11 of the Blockchain tutorial explaining how the generate a public private key using Elliptic Curve. In this video series different topics will be explained which will help you to understand blockchain. Bitcoin released as open source software in 2009 is a cryptocurrency invented by Satoshi Nakamoto (unidentified person or group of persons). After the introduction of Bitcoin many Bitcoin alternatives were created. These alternate cryptocurrencies are called Altcoins (Litecoin, Dodgecoin etc). Bitcoin's underlying technology is called Blockchain. The Blockchain is a distributed decentralized incorruptible database (ledger) that records blocks of digital information. Each block contains a timestamp and a link to a previous block. Soon people realises that there many other use cases where the Blockchain technology can be applied and not just as a cryptocurrency application. New Blockchain platforms were created based on the Blockchain technology, one of which is called Ethereum. Ethereum focuses on running programming code, called smart contracts, on any decentralized application. Using the new Blockchain platforms, Blockchain technology can be used in supply chain management, healthcare, real estate, identity management, voting, internet of things, etcetera, just to name a few. Today there is a growing interest in Blockchain not only in the financial sector but also in other sectors. Explaining how Blockchain works is not easy and for many the Blockchain technology remains an elusive concept. This video series tries to explain Blockchain to a large audience but from the bottom up. Keywords often used in Blockchain conversation will be explained. Each Blockchain video is short and to the point. It is recommended to watch each video sequentially as I may refer to certain Blockchain topics explained earlier. Bitcoin Q&A: Migrating to post-quantum cryptography

06:47
Keywords/phrases: Quantum cryptography, quantum cryptoanalysis, quantum computing. Bitcoin uses SHA-256. In cryptography there is a 20-30 year lifecycle for an algorithm before it gets exceeded by new technologies and developments in mathematics. Both the signing and hashing algorithms can be upgraded in Bitcoin if there is a need to do that. Quantum cryptography represents a threat only if unevenly distributed in commercial sectors. If it is available to only one actor, and not all actors, they are unlikely to use it against Bitcoin; instead they're going to keep it secret and use it when they're threatened by ex. cryptographically secure nuclear weapons. Intelligence agencies who have that kind of significant computing advantage don't use it until there is a dire emergency, because once you use it everyone will know you have it. After that all the algorithms get changed, so you better make it good. If it is widely available, all the miners update to quantum computers and we're going to be looking at several orders of magnitude in improvement, because running one is neither free nor easy. We don't know what the economics will be yet, but we will solve problems when it's necessary. Corporations and governments are not going to be happy with Bitcoin. Kings were not happy and yet the revolution happened anyway. Bitcoin is a global and technological revolution. They have adapted to new technologies for hundreds of years. The fact that they won't be happy doesn't concern me, because Bitcoin is a system that doesn't require their permission, approval, or cooperation. They can pretend it's going away but it isn't. We can talk all day about whether the government should or shouldn't regulate Bitcoin, but the real question is whether they can. They can regulate at the edge, the behaviour of users, but they can't regulate Bitcoin itself. Bitcoin is exciting because it introduces a new choice; it's not saying you can't do the old way (hierarchical central banking, border-restricted jurisdictions for currencies ), it's saying we can also do this.
